Your organization's identity, verifiable by anyone, trusted everywhere.
A verifiable Legal Entity Identifier (vLEI) is a cryptographically signed credential that proves your organization's legal identity, without phone calls, PDFs, or third party checks. Veridian is on track to become Switzerland's first GLEIF-accredited Qualified vLEI Issuer.
The Legal Entity Identifier, made verifiable and cryptographically trustworthy.
An LEI, or Legal Entity Identifier, is the global standard for identifying organizations in financial and regulatory systems. Over 3.2 million legal entities hold one. But an LEI on its own is just an ID code, anyone can look it up, copy it, and impersonate it.
A vLEI changes that entirely. It is a cryptographic credential, issued and signed using KERI and ACDC infrastructure, that proves your organization is who it claims to be without relying on a central authority or a human intermediary. It can be verified programmatically, instantly, by any counterparty in the world.
An LEI is like a company registration number. It identifies you, but anyone can write it on a form. A vLEI is like a cryptographically signed passport. It identifies you in a way that is mathematically impossible to forge and can be verified by anyone without calling anyone.
Cryptographically signed by a QLEI-authorized issuer
Every vLEI is signed using KERI key infrastructure by a Qualified vLEI Issuer (QVI) that has passed GLEIF's accreditation process. The signature chain runs all the way back to GLEIF's root of trust, making it verifiable without intermediaries.
Verified in milliseconds by any counterparty
Counterparties, platforms, and regulators can verify a vLEI programmatically and instantly. No phone calls, no document requests, no manual checks. The credential carries the proof within itself.
Recognized globally across jurisdictions
The vLEI is governed by GLEIF, the same body that governs the LEI. It works across national borders, regulatory frameworks, and blockchain networks.
Lives in the Veridian Wallet mobile app, no specialist software needed
Veridian is your organization's gateway to the KERI and ACDC ecosystem. Your vLEI lives in the Veridian Wallet alongside your other verifiable credentials, ready to present, share, or sign from anywhere.
If your organization operates across borders, platforms, or regulated markets, you need one.
The vLEI is becoming a baseline requirement in financial infrastructure, enterprise blockchain networks, and regulated institutional markets. Early adoption is a competitive and compliance advantage.
Banks, brokerages, and financial intermediaries
Financial institutions operating in cross-border markets face growing pressure to provide machine-verifiable entity identity to regulators, platforms, and counterparties. A vLEI replaces manual KYB and LEI lookup processes with a credential that verifies itself.
- • Operating on regulated trading platforms
- • Subject to cross-border regulatory reporting
Law firms, auditors, and corporate service providers
Professional service firms that act on behalf of clients in regulated processes, corporate filings, contract execution, and regulatory submissions need machine-verifiable authority credentials for the organizations and roles they represent. Role credentials extend that same trust to authorized individuals.
- • Executing contracts on behalf of clients
- • Submitting regulatory filings digitally
- • Representing clients in digital legal proceedings
- • Building verifiable audit trails for regulators
Three credential types. One trust hierarchy.
The vLEI ecosystem defines three distinct credential types that form a complete identity stack, from the organization itself down to the individuals authorized to act on its behalf. Veridian issues all three as part of a single onboarding engagement.
Verifiable Legal Entity Credential
The foundational credential. Issued to the legal entity itself. It cryptographically binds the organization's legal identity to its KERI key infrastructure, secured by multisignature control so that no single key holder can act alone. Every other credential in the hierarchy flows from this one.
- • Issued to the organization's legal entity
- • Linked to the organization's activity
- • Issued by Veridian, Switzerland's first QVI in accreditation
- • Verifiable by any counterparty globally
Official Organizational Role
Issued to named individuals who hold a formal, externally recognized role within the organization, such as CEO, CFO, Director, or Authorized Signatory. These credentials establish that a specific person holds a specific authority and can be verified without any human in the loop.
- • Issued to named individuals in formal roles
- • Links person to role to organization in one credential
- • Revocable instantly if role changes
- • Recognised in regulated signing and filing contexts
Engagement Context Role
Issued to individuals operating on behalf of the organization in a specific context or engagement, advisors, contractors, and representatives. Unlike the OOR, these are engagement-specific and time-bound, making them ideal for transactional and project-based identity scenarios.
- • Issued for specific engagements or projects
- • Time-bounded and context-specific
- • Ideal for advisors, contractors, and representatives
- • Revocable at engagement end

From first conversation to live credential in five steps.
Veridian manages the entire vLEI issuance process. You do not need in-house KERI expertise, GLEIF relationships, or specialist infrastructure. We handle everything, your team just needs to show up for one verification session.
Eligibility check
We confirm your organization holds a valid LEI, review your corporate structure, and establish which credential types you need.
In-person ceremony
GLEIF requires in-person identity verification for authorized representatives. Veridian conducts this session, in person, and handles all documentation on your behalf.
Wallet setup & credential issuance
Veridian provisions KERI key infrastructure, configures your wallet, and issues the vLEI and any OOR or ECR credentials in a single session.
Live & verified
Your credentials are live on the GLEIF registry, verifiable by any counterparty globally. We provide a handover pack and ongoing support for credential management and renewal.
Do you already hold an LEI? The upgrade path to a vLEI is straightforward. Veridian handles the transition without disrupting your existing LEI registration or your relationships with your current LEI issuer. Most organizations complete the full process within two weeks of first contact.
Talk to an Expert arrow_forwardYou may already have an LEI. Here's why a vLEI is a different thing entirely.
Over 3.2 million organizations globally hold an LEI. It is required for securities trading, regulatory reporting, and financial market participation. But an LEI is a lookup, it tells you who an entity is. A vLEI is a credential, it proves who an entity is, cryptographically, without any intermediary.
The vLEI is not a replacement for the LEI. It is the LEI made useful for the next generation of digital infrastructure, blockchain platforms, smart contract compliance, government digital identity, and cross-border trade.
- • Existing LEI, upgrade path is straightforward
- • Multiple jurisdictions, one credential works everywhere
- • Role credentials for your team issued at the same time

GLEIF accreditation is not a checkbox. It is what makes the credential mean something.
A vLEI is only as trustworthy as the issuer who signs it. GLEIF's accreditation process exists to ensure that every Qualified vLEI Issuer meets the technical, legal, and operational standards required to participate in the global trust chain.
Veridian is actively progressing through that process — on track to be Switzerland's first listed QVI. Once accredited, every vLEI we issue will carry a signature chain that any verifier in the world can trace back to GLEIF's root of trust.
